Acting Police Chief C D Wickremeratne has directed the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to investigate nine senior police officials over the Easter Sunday attacks, in line with the instructions issued by the Attorney General.
Mr. Wickremeratne has also instructed the Special Investigations Unit at the Police Headquarters to conduct preliminary investigations in this regard, Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said.
Yesterday, the Attorney General instructed a probe to be carried out into these senior police officials including three DIG's over their failure to prevent the Easter Sunday attacks.
The instructions had been issued in line with the recommendations made by the Special Investigation Committee which was appointed to probe the terrorist bombings.
