Sri Lanka’s air quality levels could affect sensitive groups tomorrow (Nov 13), the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) said.
Sensitive groups include the elderly, children, and people with lung diseases.
NBRO Senior Scientist H.D.S. Premasiri told Times Online that Sri Lanka’s air quality may range between 100 and 120 tomorrow.
He explained that this situation could arise due to the change in meteorological conditions such as the change in wind direction and temperature.
The country measures its air quality based on the US Air Quality Index which categorises air quality levels between 100 and 150 as unhealthy for sensitive groups.
At present, the air quality is between 60 - 70, which according to the Air Quality Index is considered 'moderate'.
