Parliamentarian Dallas Alahapperuma has expressed his views on the conspiracy to remove MP Mahinda Rajapaksa from the post of Opposition Leader.
Speaking at an event in Akuressa, MP Alahapperuma said that former President Rajapaksa had given up his premiership title out of love for the country.
"Some individuals are trying not only to strip him (Rajapaksa) off the title of Opposition Leader, but also to kill him by imprisoning him" Mr. Alahapperuma said.
He had further questioned the grounds on which certain groups were trying to take revenge on Mr. Rajapaksa.
"What wrong did the former President do to the country?" questioned Mr. Alahapperuma while saying that the anti-Rajapaksa factions were trying to resucitate the dreams of slain LTTE leader Velupillai Prabakharan.
