An army soldier has died after shooting himself in Anuradhapura today (Jul 31), Police said.
According to the police, the incident had taken place at around 3:55 pm.
The victim has been identified as D. Priyantha Ekanayake, a 24-year-old army officer attached to the Army 212 Brigade. He is a resident of Ehetuwewa.
The remains of the deceased currently lie at the Anuradhapura hospital. Further investigations are being carried out by the police.
