The case filed against Avant Garde Chairman Major General (Retired) Nissanka Senadhipathi over a financial fraud has been re-fixed for hearing at the Colombo High Court on May 21.
This was announced when the case was heard before the Colombo High Court judge Shashi Mahendran today (Feb 28).
Mr. Senadhipathi and the Chairman of Rakna Lanka Security Major General (Retired) Palitha Fernando have been accused of being involved in giving and receiving of a Rs 35.5 million bribe during transactions involving the Avant-Garde floating armoury.
The hearing of the case which was expected to commence from today was postponed since the State Counsel appearing on behalf of the prosecution was attending a case in the Supreme Court.
Director (Legal) of the Bribery Commission Thushari Dayaratne and Senior State Counsel Janaka Bandara appeared on behalf of the prosecution during today's hearing.
President's Counsel Gamini Marapana, Justices Navin Marapana and Ajith Pathirana appeared on behalf of the accused.
