The bail applications of former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and IGP Pujith Jayasundara will be taken up for hearing on February 10 by the Colombo High Court.
The accused have been remanded by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court over the failure to prevent last year's Easter Sunday attacks despite having intelligence information in that regard.
During today’s hearing, the High Court was informed that the respondents named in the applications have expressed objection towards releasing the accused on bail.
Among the respondents are the Criminal Investigation Department’s (CID) Director and the Attorney General.
Fernando and Jayasundara are seeking an order directing the Colombo Magistrate’s Court to release them on bail.
