Blood samples from suspects in Vidya rape case to be taken
The Kayts Magistrate has ordered blood samples to be taken from the nine suspects who are in custody for the alleged rape and murder of student Vidya Sivaloganathan.
The Magistrate gave the order when the suspects were produced in courts yesterday. He also ordered the suspects to be further remanded until September 01.
Vidya was raped and murdered in May and nine suspects were later arrested. The incident received wide publicity over local and international media and also led to public protests in the North.
