The price of a loaf of bread will be reduced by Rs 5 with effect from midnight today (Jul 18), the Bakery Owners Association (BOA) said.
Accordingly, the price of bread which was increased after two companies had increased the price of wheat flour, will be restored to its previous price.
“Both companies informed us through a telephone call that they would be selling their existing stocks at the previous rate,” N.K Jayawardena, the Association Chairman told Times Online.
He added that Acting Minister of Industry & Commerce Buddhika Pathirana had held talks with the companies and had said that a solution would be provided to this issue by next Tuesday.
