Building collapse: 19 injured, at least four trapped

Rescue efforts are ongoing to locate at least four people still believed to be trapped under the rubble of a multi-storey building which has collapsed near the Savoy Cinema in Wellawatta. 

Police said 19 persons injured in the incident have been admitted to hospital. Thirteen of them were admitted to the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital while six others are being treated at the Colombo National Hospital. 

It is reported that the majority of the injured are construction workers working on the building, which had been under construction. 

The building had reportedly been under construction for several years. 

Heavy traffic currently prevails along the Galle Road after the collapse of the building.
