The bus driver who was involved in an accident which claimed the lives of 10 persons yesterday (April 17) has been released on a surety bail of Rs 200,000.
The suspect was arrested and then released after being produced before the Mahiyanganaya Magistrates Court following the accident.
Meanwhile, the Magistrate had ordered the suspect to be present before court for another hearing on September 05.
A total of 10 persons had died in the mishap while two individuals who sustained critical injuries are being treated at the Badulla General Hospital.
The accident had occured when the victims were returning to Batticaloa after calling on some of their relatives in Ja-ela, police said.
