Bus fares are to be increased by 4% with effect from midnight tomorrow, Transport Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva said.
The decision was made following discussions held with the bus associations this afternoon. The Minister says that no change will be made to the minimum fare of Rs. 12.
The increase in fares came after the Private Bus Operators’ Association called for an increase in bus fares due to the recent fuel price hike.
