Bus drivers who play music over the 80 dB (decibel) sound range in their vehicles would face harsh punishments in future, National Transport Commission (NTC) Chairman Janaka Mallimarachchi said.
He added that NTC officials would apprehend these bus drivers during operations that would be carried out in civilian clothing.
Mr. Mallimarachchi also noted that only patriotic songs would be played in 'Sisu Seriya' school buses in future. These measures, he said were taking place under the directives of Minister of Transport Arjuna Ranatunga.
