A sum of Rs 1,596 million will be utlised for the procurement of uniform and other clothing material for security forces from national textile manufacturers.
The cabinet of ministers had granted approval to implement this proposal put forward by President Maithripala Sirisena in his capacity as Defence Minister during yesterday's cabinet meeting (Jan 14).
Accordingly, uniforms and relevant clothing materials of security personnel belonging to the tri-forces, police, special task force, civil security force, and the national cadet corps will be procured from local manufacturers in future.
