The Cabinet during a special meeting to discuss the ongoing railway strike action decided to appoint a sub-committee to look into salary anomalies in government institutions and to make necessary recommendations.
Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera, Public Administration Minister Ranjith Madduma Bandara, Home Affairs Minister Vajira Abeywardena, Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne and State Minister Asoka Abeysinghe, were among those appointed to serve on the sub-committee, Minister Gamini Jayawickrama Perera told media following the discussion.
Further, the cabinet sub-committee will take up matters with trade union representatives who are currently on strike and submit a report on their demands and the necessary actions that could be taken to resolve these issues.
