The Cabinet of Ministers has granted approval to import eggs in order to stabilize the prices of cakes and bakery products ahead of the upcoming Christmas and Ramadan festive seasons, the Government Information Department said in its statement on government decisions. Sri Lanka State Trading (General) Corporation has imported 224 million eggs so far.
So far, the Sri Lanka State Trading (General) Corporation has imported 224 million eggs of which 95 per cent of them were distributed to consumers at an affordable price of Rs 37 each through Lanka Sathosa’s outlets network.
