A certain faction in the National freedom front (NFF) is opposed to the coalition that would be formed between the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), NFF Leader Wimal Weerawangsa said.
He made these remarks while referring to a meeting that was expected to be held yesterday (Feb 22) between President Maithripala Sirisena and Opposition Leader Mahinda Rajapaksa on the forming of the alliance.
"In order to win the elections all power groups must come together and face the elections" MP Weerawansa said.
He also pointed out that a coalition is vital in order to win a Presidential Election.
Meanwhile, SLFP parliamentarian S.B. Dissanayake said that the alliance between the SLFP and the SLPP would be formed within a month.
He too made this remark while referring to yesterdays meeting between the President and the Opposition Leader.

All Ceylon Makkal Congress MP Ali Sabri Raheem had been arrested by Kalpitiya police after he surrendered to the police today morning.
