The Chairman of the Election Commission, Mahinda Deshapriya today said that they are ready to hold the general elections within a time period between 52 to 66 days following dissolution of the parliament.
He said this would mean that elections could be held any day between April 22 to May 4.
However, he said that the president is one who has the authority to call for general election after dissolving Parliament, according to the Constitution.
