It will be made compulsory for doctors to spend at least 10 minutes with a patient when they are channelled,Health Minister Dr Rajitha Senaratne said.
He said the doctors will also need to spend at least an hour with the patients after surgery.
He explained that a maximum rate of channeling fee shall be Rs 2000, and warned if doctors increase fees action would be taken against the private hospitals. Dr Senaratne addressing the cabinet news conference said that private hospitals would be affected by the increase of VAT.
Mr Senaratne emphasized that the increase of the VAT can not be an excuse to increase channeling fees.
