Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC’s long-standing Managing Director/CEO Kishu Gomes has resigned from the company with immediate effect. In the announcement on Wednesday, the company gave no reason for this development.
Asked to comment on the unexpected move, Mr. Gomes told TimesOnline that this change (moving out) had been planned for a long time to enable him to spend more time on helping people, particularly the youth, and communities. "I have been working with young people and inspiring them but I wanted to do more and thought this is the best time to do it," he said, adding that he would continue to be in the corporate sector and continue to champion causes that he has been engaged with in the past.
Mr. Gomes has worked at two multinationals including Coca Cola over the past three decades. He joined Chevron about 22 years ago and has been its MD for the past 18 years.
The company said Mr. Gomes’ resignation is effective May 22 and that Rochna Kaul has been appointed as Managing Director/CEO in an acting capacity. Ms. Kaul is General Manager of Chevron Lubricants Asia/Pakistan region, responsible for the sales and marketing of finished lubricants and coolants in Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam. - ENDS-
