The government is to close the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) Secretariat in operation at the BMICH on a rent basis, local media reported.
Deputy Foreign Minister Ajith Perera quoted by local media reports said the government had to incur additional expenses to maintain this secretariat.
Perera who inspected the Secretariat yesterday said no official is currently employed at the Secretariat, which was established parallel to CHOGM.
Meanwhile, reports suggested that an office of former Monitoring MP for External Affairs Ministry Sajin Vass Gunawardena in operation at the Secretariat was also ordered to be closed by the deputy minister.
