CID ordered to arrest suspects in Thajudeen 'murder'

The Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Pieris today ordered the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to arrest those responsible for the death of rugby player Wasim Thajudeen after announcing that it appears he had been murdered. 

The additional magistrate issued the order when results of the post-mortem examination into Thajudeen's death were taken up in court today. 

Accordingly, the CID was ordered to arrest those responsible and produce them before court. 

Wasim Thajudeen was found dead inside his car on May 17, 2012. At the time, police had stated it appeared that Thajudeen had lost control of his car, resulting in it crashing into a wall and thereafter exploding. However, in July last year, the CID informed court that based on its investigation, Thajudeen had been murdered.
