The Colombo High Court has ordered the case pertaining to the misappropriation of funds amounting to Rs 21 million by MP Udaya Gammanpila, to be adjourned till March 11.
MP Gammanpila is accused of having defrauded funds involved in the sale of shares owned by Australian national Sydney Jayasinghe for a company called 'Digital Nominee'. The shares were sold to business tycoon Dhammika Perera.
Special High Court judge Vikum Kaluarachchi had ordered the postponement of the case since Deputy Soilcitor General Dileep Peiris was not able to be present for the hearing due to another court case.
The charges against MP Gammanpila and Mr. Jayasinghe were filed by the Attorney General who claimed the alleged offence to have taken place between 1997-2000.
