The total number of confirmed coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Sri Lanka has increased to 218 today with one more person tested positive while 142 persons are under observation at National Institute of Infectious Diseases (IDH), Health Promotion Bureau of Health Ministry said.
Eight persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours while three others recovered and were discharged from hospital. On the district distribution of confirmed patients, 45 patients are from Colombo and 44 from Kalutara.
According to the Epidemiology unit statistics, 59 persons recovered and discharged from IDH while 152 active patients are currently admitted to the special ward. Seven patients died due to COVID-19 while another Chinese tourist who was identified in January left the country after fully recovered.
