Crocodiles in the Menik Ganga in Kataragama are to be caught and released into Yala, Wildlife Authorities said.
Assistant Director Sisira Kumara de Silva was quoted by the government information department saying some crocodiles found in the Menik Ganga have already been released to the Yala National Park. "However, it is difficult to prevent them coming again to the Menik Ganga," the Assistant Director said.
He was quoted as saying after the water level of the Menik Ganga decreases, the crocodiles will be caught with the assistance of officers of the Kataragama District Secretariat Office.
It has also been decided to set up iron enclosures in places where pilgrims bathe in the Menik Ganga.
