The Civil Society and Trade Union Collective (CSTUC) which met with the Prime Minister today (May 25) raised issues over the country's security in the aftermath of the Easter Sunday attacks.
During the meeting with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, CSTUC representatives had queried regarding the steps which have been taken to ensure political and institutional accountability over the failure to prevent the terror attacks.
In response, the Prime Minister had said that a Parliamentary Select Committee has been appointed to investigate the incident. He noted that the business of this committee will be open to the media to ensure accountability.
Ven. Dambara Amila Nayaka Thera, Dr. Wickremabahu Karunaratne, Dr. Paikaisothy Saravanamuttu, Dr. Jehan Perera, Prof. Chandraguptha Thenuwara, Saman Rathnapriya, Raja Uswetakeyiyawa were among the representatives present.
