The Fisheries Ministry has decided to introduce a curfew pass system for fishermen, those who engage in transportation of fish products and retail business activities in order to ensure fishfolk are not affected with the ongoing islandwide curfew in the country.
Minister of Fisheries Douglas Devananda instructed department of Fisheries officials to take necessary actions and inform relevant authorities in this regard during a meeting held at the Ministry today when the matter was brought to the attention of the Minister.
Accordingly, fishermen and those who engage in retail business of fisheries products can contact respective District Fisheries Department in order to get recommendation letters and submit them at the nearest police stations to obtain curfew passes.
