Dr Dayan Jayatilleke, former diplomat and regular political commentator, has been appointed Sri Lanka’s next ambassador to Russia, according to a newspaper announcement on Tuesday.
A newspaper ad placed by the Committee on High Posts of the Sri Lankan Parliament said the committee would be examining the a “suitability” of the appointment of Dr. Jayatillake and six other appointees to heads of government institutions. This is a normal process in which public comment is also invited.
Dr. Jayatillake once served as Sri Lanka’s envoy in Geneva. – ENDS -
