The Government of Sri Lanka and the Government of Dominica decided to establish Diplomatic Relations between the two countries with effect from April 17 following the signing of Agreement by Dr.Amrith Rohan Perera, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the United Nations and Mrs. Loreen Ruth Bannis-Roberts, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Dominica to the United Nations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The establishment of diplomatic ties between Sri Lanka and Dominica would enhance the existing friendly relations and cooperation in the political, socio-economic and cultural fields for the mutual benefit of the two countries.

The United States has told Sri Lanka that the disposition of the Iranian naval vessel IRIS Bushehr and its crew is a matter for Colombo to resolve under its own laws and international obligations, while signalling it is in active talks with Sri Lanka to contain Iran’s threat to US interests.
