The Department of Registration of Persons is to take disciplinary action against officers who were involved in forging documents to provide wife of former Minister Wimal Weerawansa with two NICs, local media reported. A senior officer at the department was quoted by local media as saying that a disciplinary inquiry is on going with regard to the incident. The Criminal Investigations Department had recently informed court that Sashi Weerawansa, was in possession of two ID cards. This information was revealed when the CID had made submissions regarding the above mentioned case pertaining to forged passport and birth certificate of Sashi Weerawansa were taken up in court.
