The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) has warned fishermen in the Mannar and Pottuvil coastline areas to refrain from going out to sea due to the inclement weather in the area.
Issuing a press release, the DMC noted that wind speeds ranging between 60- 70 kmph will be experienced in these areas along with heavy showers during the day.
Lightning strikes too could increase in this area, the DMC noted adding that the general public too should take steps to remain indoors and seek safe shelter during this period.
