Chief-of-Defence Staff Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne has urged the public to not to be misled by false information but to follow information which is released by the Defence Ministry alone.
Issuing a special statement, Admiral Wijegunaratne called on the public not to be misled by fake SMS messages claiming to be Intelligence warnings.
He also requested the public to keep away from acts of extremism since it was thwarting the investigations which are being carried out by security forces against terrorist groups.
Meanwhile, Army Commander Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake has warned that the Army would be forced to take severe action against individuals who behave in an unruly manner.
Air Force Commander Kapila Jayampathy also expressed similar sentiments to that of the Army chief while pointing out that action would be taken under the Emergenecy regulations.
