Dr Mohamed Shafi who was accused of sterilising women has been granted bail by the Kurunegala Magistrate's court today (Jul 25).
During today's hearing, the court had released the accused doctor on a cash bail of Rs 250,000 and four surety bails worth Rs 2.5 million each.
Special security protection had been deployed around the premises of the court, as the doctor who was remanded, made his second court appearance today.
He had been remanded over multiple charges involving terrorism, money laundering, and the sterilization of mothers during cesarean sections.
However, the CID on previous occassions had informed court that no evidence has been found so far to link any of the charges levelled against the doctor.
