President of the SLFP Youth Front, Shantha Bandara has been appointed as a parliamentarian with effect from yesterday (Jan 07).
The Elections Commission issuing an extraordinary gazette notification declared that Mr. Bandara has been appointed as a parliamentarian to fill the vacancy created by Eastern Province Governor M.L.A.M Hisbullah.
Mr Hizbullah resigned from his position as parliamentarian before assuming duties as the Governor last Friday.
The Elections Commission in the gazette also said that Mr. Bandara was appointed as an MP since he was nominated by the SLFP to fill the vacancy.
