The Election Commission says heads of state institutions in districts where curfew has been lifted have been notified to hand over postal vote applications submitted by their staff to their respective district election offices.
Heads of institutions in the districts of Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara and Puttalam, where curfew is in effect till May 4, can hand over postal vote applications submitted by their staff to the respective district election offices from May 4 onwards if the curfew is lifted on that date, Channa De Silva, the EC's Media Coordinator told Times Online.
Mr De Silva added that the EC had only received a section of postal vote applications through mail by the time curfew was declared earlier due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Accordingly, the EC has now given state institutions time to hand over the postal vote applications.
