A tree has fallen across the Hatton-Colombo Road in front of Carolina Estate in Watawala this morning, disrupting traffic for several hours, Watawala Police said.
Several power and telephone cables also have been disconnected in the incident. With the help of the villagers the police have cleared the road for traffic, but the are is without power due to the broken cables, police said.
More intermittent heavy rain and gusty winds are forecasted in the hills today.
