The All Island Federation of Farmers (AIFF) today warned that Government that farmers would descend on Colombo if the Government failed to provide farmers compensation which it had promised.
The warning was made during a protest held today in Dambulla town.
Addressing the protesters, AIFF National Organizer Namal Karunaratne stated that they would give the Government two weeks to provide compensation to farmers that it had promised. If they failed to provide compensation within these two weeks, farmers would come to Colombo carrying their agricultural implements.
He also called on new Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera that if he did not intervene to provide the compensation.
After a protest lasting one hour, the protesters dispersed after dashing the pots they were carrying at the protest and moving the pieces off the road.
