Five alleged treasure hunters arrested

Five suspects who were allegedly involved in treasure hunting were taken into custody from the Soraborawewa area in Mahiyanganaya last afternoon (15). 

Police said officers from the Mahiyanganaya Police arrested the suspect based on a tip-off. They also recovered a water pump, an electric hammer, a set of digging equipment and pooja items from the suspects' possession. 

The suspects are aged between 26 and 59 years. They are residents of Mahiyanganaya, Eheliyagoda and Parakaduwa. Mahiyanganaya Police are investigating.
