Five persons including actor Ryan Van Rooyen who were arrested with notorious drug dealer Makandure Madush were deported from Dubai this morning.
The group had arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport at around 5:25 am on a SriLankan flight UL 226 today following which they were arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).
Police have identified the individuals as H.A. Gerard, H.A Charitha Pathman, S. Kavindya Silva, P.D. Surantha Perera and Mohamed Waseemdeen. They are currently being questioned by the CID and the State Intelligence Service in order to carry out further investigations.
Actor Rooyen will be arrested by the Mirihana Police Special Investigations Unit following questioning by the CID. He would be arrested under charges of providing false information to the police by denying any links with druglord Makandure Madush.
However, police officers who had searched the suspect’s house following his arrest in Dubai had discovered mobile phones containing phone call records between Madush and the actor.
Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Thilak Marapana has taken to wing to Dubai to discuss matters pertaining to the arrest and the deportation of these individuals, a senior officer at the Immigration and Emigration Department said.

It is reported that the suspects are currently being questioned by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at the airport.
