The inclement weather across 13 districts in the country since December 18 has claimed the lives of five individuals so far, the Disaster Management Centre said.
In addition, more than 19,000 families have been affected due to the torrential rains which have also left more than 1500 houses damaged.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has predicted that the prevailing showery condition could reduce temporarily from December 25.
Landslide warnings issued to the Matale District too have been lifted, the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) said in its latest report today (Dec 23).
However, evacuation warnings issued to the Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Badulla, Monaragala, and Ratnapura districts continue to be in effect until 4 pm tomorrow.
Authorities have urged the public to take precaution from strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
