An 83-year-old female from Colombo 14, a 68-year-old male from Chilaw, a 69-year-old male from Ratmalana, a 64-year-old male from Colombo 13 and another 78-year-old male from Colombo 13 have died from COVID-related complications, Director General of Health Services said.
All the deceased have been suffering from non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure and suffered from heart failures due to the virus. Accordingly, the death toll from COVID-19 has increased to 53.
By today (14) morning the Minuwangoda and Peliyagoda cluster has reached 12,690 cases bringing the total number reported in the country to 16,190. Out of the total, 11,030 have been treated and discharged while 5,107 are presently at hospitals and treatment centres, the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 said.
