Five United National Party (UNP) parliamentarians have been expelled from the party for breaching the party's constitution and its code of conduct, UNP General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said.
Among the parliamentarians are Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe, Dinesh Gankanda, S.B. Nawinne, Ashok Priyantha and Ananda Aluthgamage.
Minister Kariyawasam said that a letter had been sent to the above parliamentarians yesterday (Sept 24) notifying that they have been removed from the party.
