The Colombo High Court today (Feb 28) postponed the case filed against the former Mayor of Kotte, Janaka Ranawaka and two others, accused of hacking into the computer of then Deputy Mayor Madhura Vithanage, till May 27.
Mr Ranawaka, who now functions as a secretary to President Sirisena is under investigation for hacking into a personal computer of incumbent Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte Mayor Madhura Vithanage.
When the case was taken up for hearing today the complainants requested for a further date as the Deputy Solicitor General, who was leading the case, was out of the country.
The attorney representing the Defendants informed Colombo High Court Judge Manjula Tillekeratne that preliminary objects in connection to the allegations will be made in the future.
The first witness in the case was advised to appear on the next court date.
The alleged incident took place in 2013 when Mr Ranawaka was the mayor and Mr Vithanage was his deputy.
