Former LTTE Media Spokesman Velayutham Dayanidhi alias 'Daya Master' was remanded in custody till today (11) after being produced before the Vavuniya Magistrate's Court yesterday.
He had appeared in court after being issued notice on August 8.
The Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) had filed action against Daya Master for operating as the media spokesman of a banned terrorist organization. A separate case in this regard is being heard in the Colombo High Court and he had been granted bail in this case. As such, his lawyer applied for bail in this case as well.
The Vavuniya Magistrate ordered him to be released on a cash bail of Rs.500,000 and four personal sureties of Rs.100,000 each. He was further banned from leaving the Northern Province during the duration of the case and to produce himself before the Jaffna Police every day.
However, Daya Master informed that he was not able to arrange bail at this time. whereupon he was remanded in custody till the 11th. He is due to be produced in court today.
