Former navy spokesman and others released on bail
Former Navy Spokesman Commodore D.K.P. Dassanayake and five others, who have been in remand custody over the alleged abduction and disappearance of several youths, were granted bail by the Colombo High Court today.
The group were released on a cash bail of Rs.100, 000 each and two personal bonds of Rs.1 million each. They were also prohibited from traveling overseas and were also ordered to present themselves before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) once a month.
The six suspects had been in remand custody for nearly six months over the allegations of abduction and disappearance of 11 Tamil youths in 2008 and 2009.
