Former Chairman of the Rambewa Pradeshiya Sabha was sentenced to five years in prison by the Colombo High Court yesterday after he was found guilty of soliciting a bribe.
Ranil Madawa Kamal Nilame was found guilty of several charges, including soliciting a bribe of Rs.100, 000 from an individual after promising to provide him a job in Korea.
The accused was also fined Rs.40, 000.
The case against the former PS Chairman had been filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption.
