Former Timber Corp. Chairman Polgampola arrested

Former State Timber Corporation Chairman and former MP Anuruddha Polgampola has been arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). 

Mr Polgampola was arrested by CID detectives last night in connection with an alleged fraud amounting to Rs.8 million that had been committed during the construction on the Northern Railway Line. 

Mr Polgampola was recently appointed as Chairman of the State Timber Corporation by President Maithripala Sirisena. However, the appointment was suspended a few days later after concerns were raised over his appointment.
