Wearing full-face helmets by motorcyclists is to be banned from March 21, Police Spokesperson SSP Ajith Rohana said. Previously the police banned the use of full-face helmets and temporary suspended the regulation due to several issues. SSP Rohana speaking at a media briefing said they witnessed many incidents where thieves were taking advantage of these helmets to carry out robberies in the recent past. “Several reports have been received of criminals wearing tinted helmets to hide their identification when fleeing the scene of the crime,” he was quoted as saying.
