The two-day Galle Dialogue conference 2018 organized by the Sri Lanka Navy came to a close today at the Galle Face hotel in Colombo .
Addressing the second session of the conference, Captain Matthew D. Coates representing the Royal Canadian Navy emphasized on the importance of bilateral and multilateral agreements in developing maritime domain awareness amongst countries.
Meanwhile, Commodore YN Jayaratne of the Sri Lanka Navy presented a study suggesting the establishment of a Maritime Domain Awareness Information fusion center in Sri Lanka.
"My key takeways from this conference are, the pressing need for collaboration to form a shared martime domain awareness, the importance of civil military relations for HADR and the emerging requirement for greater interoperability, operational capacity building and connectivity in maritime security" Rear Admiral Piyal de Silva was quoted saying at the conclusion of the event.
