A Cabinet memorandum to set up a weapons museum consisting of ancient weapons was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers today.
The memorandum, submitted by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa sought to collect, conserve, maintain ancient weapons including the stone age weapons unearthed from archaeological excavations and modern weaponry to be preserved by establishing a separate unit.
The museum will be under the purview of the Department of National Museums.
