The government will spend a sum of Rs 22.2 million to conduct a feasibility study on a proposed electronic system concerning traffic law violations.
The electronic system is expected to manage data on traffic law violations, facilitate an instant fine collection system, and to introduce a driver scoring system.
According to a cabinet paper submitted by the Defence Ministry, the system is to be developed under a Public Private Partnership project.

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
